Next week, I will have the pleasure of welcoming participants to the 7th Blockchain Roundtable in the German Bundestag on behalf of Blockchain Bundesverband (Bundesblock).

The title of the event is "AI & Blockchain: Building Blocks of Digital Sovereignty." It is a timely topic.

As a lawyer, I spend much of my time discussing regulation. But regulation alone does not create digital sovereignty. Sovereignty requires infrastructure, standards, interoperability, trusted institutions and, above all, people who are willing to engage in difficult conversations across disciplines.

Too often, discussions about AI and blockchain take place in separate rooms. Yet many of the questions Europe is currently facing sit precisely at their intersection:

▪️ How do we maintain control over critical digital infrastructure?

▪️ How can autonomous AI agents transact securely and transparently?

▪️ What role should open networks play in a European digital economy?

▪️ How do we balance innovation, resilience and accountability?

These are not purely technical questions. They are legal, economic and societal questions as well.

In my role as a Board Member of Bundesblock, I am looking forward to contributing to this dialogue and to hearing perspectives from policymakers, researchers, entrepreneurs and industry representatives. In parallel, through my involvement with KI-Werkstatt at HTW Berlin, I see first-hand how important it is to connect technological development with practical governance and public understanding.
