Berlin Tech Scene: Apply for the Deep Tech Berlin Award 2026!

If you want to see your cutting-edge solutions on the stage this May or if you are a fan of a Berlin based deep tech product: The Berlin Tech Award is officially open for submissions (either application by the companies themselves here or by nomination from third parties here) until 13 February 2026. 

What is the Deep Tech Award?

Awarded by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, this prize honours research-based, application-oriented and proven software and hardware products that:

 • were predominantly developed in Berlin;

 • demonstrate strong technological depth and market readiness;

 • solve real problems and create value for users. 

Who Can Apply?

 • Berlin-based companies, start-ups and SMEs with a product rooted in deep tech - including those spun out of local research institutions.

 • Small and young companies are explicitly encouraged.

 • Product must be tested, have a clear application context and demonstrated potential beyond early proof-of-concept. 

Key Deadlines & Dates

 • Apply until 13 Feb 2026

 • Finalists announced: 6 Apr 2026

 • Award Ceremony: 20 May 2026 (as part of Deep Tech Momentum Berlin) 

Five categories are awarded, each with €10,000 in prize money and strong visibility across politics, industry and research:

 • Advanced Manufacturing (Jury: Matthias Ziege, Stefanie Brickwede)

 • Bio- & Healthtech (Jury: Marion Hitchcock, Hannes Rothe, Dr. Larisa Wewetzer)

 • Artificial Intelligence (Jury: Franziska Weindauer, Fabian J. G. Westerheide)

 • Quantum Technologies, Photonics & Microelectronics (Jury: Gabrielle T., Dr. Barbara Wellmann, Markus Krutzik)

 • and last but not least: Web3 & Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) (Jury: our one and only HTW blockchain Prof. Dr.-Ing. Katarina Krüger, Regine Haschka Helmer, Dr. Christoph Haupenthal)
